Run Sampson Run

Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow.....

After deliberating for a few months, we decided to bite the bullet and BUZZ Jonas' beautiful hair. Jonas was not on board with this plan, and frankly neither was I, but Glenn said "every boy needs a summer buzz cut at least once". So not wanting to have a prissy boy, I caved. Jonas was not ready to cave, until I said "well, if you do buzz your hair, when you get to school, NO ONE WILL RECOGNIZE YOU.... ". Sold! That was all he needed to hear... kind of like a superhero costume to transform him into someone else.

Half way through, we laughed at his crazy, partly buzzed, hair.

He said "take a picture of me saying, I DID IT!" Yes you did it Jonas, you are now one of the millions of boys around the world that got a summer buzz cut....congratulations Sampson!

In the Jungle

Spring break trip with our friends the Cooks and the Stones to TAMA ZOO... the coolest Zoo ever! Besides being clean and beautiful, it has one very crazy exhibit... the LION BUS.

You board a bus and ride around the lion park so you can see the lions up close. The craziest part is that the zoo attaches BIG HUNKS OF MEAT to your bus so that the lions will come up to the bus to EAT OFF OF YOUR WINDOWS giving you the feeling that you are being EATEN BY A LION. It was unbelievably cool. Leanne was freaking out that one of her kids would actually be eaten by a lion. I on the other hand decided that if I ever get a terminal disease, I will jump into a lion pit... if you have to go, you have to go, and what a way to go!

There are two other interesting ways they attract the lions to the bus:

1) by attaching large meaty bones to the tables that are placed at "bus window level"
2) the bus driver actually presses a button that makes a meat smell PUFF out of the bus and make the lions come running.

Now I know what it is like to feel like a piece of meat!

In the Jungle, the might Jungle, the Lion sleeps tonight......

Kurai Muki Modeling

Shailey modeled for a sewing pattern book designed my Kurai Muki. My friend Hiromi told me this designer is VERY famous. She said probably all Japanese know her name. Learning this, I wish we had taken a picture with her. Here are some of my favorite shots:
In all of the modeling Shailey has done, they have NEVER put make-up on her! They sometimes clean her face as shown in the picture below, but no make-up. She is perfect, just the way she is... I hope she appreciates that.I took this one to show Shailey how lovely and long her legs are... she still sees them as her stocky little girl legs.

The final result... Shailey is on the cover!

I am not sure I will ever look at a pattern book the same now that I have experienced the "modeling" side of it....funny.

This last shot I took of our matching shoes... I love the color tiled floor!

Its the Calvin in Jonas

Jonas is always doing "Calvin like" things. A few months ago, I lost him at the school playground. He followed another kid to the school cafeteria without telling me. I gave him the lecture of his life and said, "You CANNOT leave without telling me. I have to know where you are at all times. If you leave without telling me, I will think a stranger took you forever. Jonas, when you disappear, I start to panic....."

He got this stunned look of awe on his face and I can tell he stopped listening. He turned to Emma and said "did you hear that? I DISAPPEAR! Wow." He took a big breath and looked off into the distance and quietly mumbled, "I didn't know I had the powers to disappear. Wow."

Hi Calvin, meet Jonas.

(photos are poses he came up with all on his own at the museum... I think he was bored)

Kasai Rinkai Aquarium

Sacred Heart Junior School had an extra day off so we went with the Cook family to Kasai Rinkai Aquarium. It was a cold and rainy day so it was great to find indoor fun.

April, Maurielle, Hollis and Mr. Darling Asher

How big was it????
This penguin kept following Jonas' hands... it was so funny!
The good news is, the rain cleared up at the end of the day. The bad news is that after a few horrible tantrums they did not earn a "Ferris Wheel" ride. However, everyone got to play at the aquarium park, and I got to take some gorgeous pictures.... we call that WIN WIN.
