Good Picasso, Bad Picasso

Jonas is our first child to show his artistic skills in places we don't care to see them. There is good Picasso and there is bad Picasso.

On paper, good Picasso.

His name on walls... bad Picasso.
More walls... bad Picasso.
More walls, bad Picasso.

On a Power Ranger coloring sheet, good Picasso.

On our creme colored carpeting.... bad Picasso.

He told me he was making a target for the bees to land on, like they do in "The Bee Movie".
Keep scrubbing Jonas. You made the mess, you clean the mess.

Okay- I can totally relate. This one made me laugh out loud!! Paper good, floor & carpet bad!! "but it's for bees". LOVE IT- CLassic boy! I can totally hear Brody say that. We will need to watch them close when they all play together!
Hope that came out of the carpet.

It's a good thing he is so cute or you might have been tempted to cut his painting days short!!!!! Are those bleach pads from your mother ever going to arrive? My little Picassa's moments need some working on too! You have managed to once again capture the whole things with a spirited humor that every mom can appreciate and smile about.

Don't be surprised or to harsh on Jonas, he comes by his picassa
honestly.
We had just moved into the house on La Vieve. Moved in in May
(mothers day weekend) and Missy was born a few months later in August.
Glenn and Jeff were excited to have a sister.
As I remember it, Glenn was old enough for me to leave home
alone, supervising Jeff, while I went to the hospital to bring Debbie
and Missy home.
While I was gone Glenn and Jeff decided to make a sign to
welcome their new little sister to her new home and family - so they
made a banner for her by stringing individual 8.5 X 11 notebook pages
together for the banner and printed the message on the banner in big
purple lettering (no, I do not remember what the message was). They
used one of Debbie's purple wide tipped magic marker pens to make the
lettering.
To be sure that Missy and their mother saw the banner and the
lettering, they made sure that the lettering was big and completely
filled in with lots of the purple magic marker ink.
They made the banner in the laundry room, COLORING THE LETTERS
IN ON THE FLOOR.
Well, some of the magic marker ink bled through the paper and
onto the floor, a floor that was covered with our brand new (very) green
carpet.
After the delight of their thoughtfulness at making the banner,
came the discovery of the discoloration of the carpet in the laundry
room. I suspect that I was les than delighted with that discovery.
We did not replace the carpet, but it went through a series of
shampooing that mostly removed the purple ink. However, when the light
was just right, or you knew were to look, one could still see the purple
stains on that carpet for years and years after the incident.
As I mellowed (yes, I have mellowed) I came to think fondly of
those stains and the motivation that created them in the first place
(but not the stain from the dropped watermelon).
Love ya, Papa Glenn
